What is the difference between winning or losing, succeeding or failing? It's simple: A Positive Mental Attitude.
Many of us wake up in the morning, put the alarm on snooze three or four times, reluctantly stagger out of bed, go and eat a high carb breakfast and spend the first half of the morning feeling sluggish and tired until around 11am when our blood sugars fall and we hit an all-time slump. This is the way we start our day and we wonder why we are not successful, fulfilled, energetic and most importantly happy? We are like we are because we have lazy attitudes, lazy towards success and life in general. Wouldn't it be good to start the day on top of the world with the attitude that success is the only outcome for us today and if we have to fail, we'll fail our way to the top?
'Fail?' I here you say, 'is a bad thing'. No it isn't, it's a great thing as it helps us to figure out where we went wrong and how we can get where we want to be. I can list several millionaires that have failed many times and still made it to the top. Millionaires such as Walt Disney, Richard Branson, Donald Trump, Thomas Edison and probably the most inspirational, Derek Redmond.
Derek injured himself during the race and at no time did he think of giving up. With the pain, humiliation and disappointment that met him he could have backed down and accepted that the race was over. Derek did not do this, He continued to finish the race, his determination, drive and motivation wouldn't let him give up. He carried on regardless and finished the race. We learn by our mistakes and if we never make any mistakes we can never learn. In order to achieve we need to know where we are going, what we want to achieve, how we want to achieve it and finally what our overriding purpose is.
Only the top 2% live by the motto that; the only way to success is by learning from our failures.
Most people, but not everyone give up before the challenge has really begun. Most give up at the first hurdle and wonder why they aren't happy in life and why they don't feel fulfilled. This is because they exist on autopilot. They do what they have always done and achieve what they have always achieved and wonder why nothing ever changes for them. Stepping outside of the comfort zone isn't easy nevertheless it is the next step that we must take to work through our failures and come out the other side as a success.
Success can be described as: living the life that fulfills us on all levels of our being, mental, physical, emotional and spiritual. Once we have achieved this then we can class ourselves as 100% successful regardless of what we look like, what we do for a job, how much money we have and all of those superficial things we tend to judge ourselves with in the west.
Our failures are more important than our successes, they are what defines us the most. Our achievements are what make us stand out from the rest and we are what we continually think about.
Whether it be success or failure that shapes us we have the potential to become anything that we desire to become, if only we'd believe in ourselves...
